My name is Catty Soto and this year I decided to try something new and unknown, which is becoming a triathlete. Since 2011, I enjoy running and this became part of my life. However, the last couple of years running was not challenging enough anymore and I stop caring about training for races as I used to do. That is when I start looking for something different and more challenging and found about triathlons. At the beginning, I watched videos of people’s journeys to become an Ironman. I think that the challenge of the training and the possibility to accomplish something that might seem impossible (but you know is possible in some ways) inspired me to try and start my own journey to become a triathlete.
As I mentioned before, this is my first season, so I recently learned to swim and the cycling part still gives me anxiety. I still overcoming all those fears. My short goals are just completing the distance. I participated in two sprints so far. I still would like to finish an Olympic and Half. On my long term goals, I would like to complete a full ironman.
Becoming part of the Endurance House Triathlon team was a great decision. I received a training plan and receive advice about everything. I feel very free to ask questions and they are very patient and supportive with new people trying the sport. The part I appreciate the most is the bike rides since I am still nervous about riding my bike on the street, but I have always had someone close to me to help me and guide me. I also love the Facebook group where we can ask questions and help each other. I have felt very welcome to the group and they inspire to keep going.
